Tis the spookiest season of the year, and Walt Disney World is once again playing host to the enchanting Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party at Magic Kingdom. I was lucky enough to attend twice this past August, and I had an absolute blast. If this is also your first-ever visit to this bewitching event, there are a few essential things you should know to ensure you have a spooktacular experience. That’s why I put together 7 Tips for Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party.
First and foremost, you need to know that Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is an incredibly popular event, and tickets tend to vanish into thin air faster than a Grim Grinning Ghost so don’t wait until the last minute to get yours. You can check date availability and pricing on the official website.
Once you’ve successfully bought your party tickets, ensure that they are connected to your MyDisneyExperience account before you get there. This vital step can spare you a trip to the Will Call Kiosk, situated to the far right of the entrance, to get your ticket or link it to your Magic Band.
Now on to the 7 Tips for Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party
1. ARRIVE EARLY AND STAY LATE

This first tip might just be the key to having the ultimate MNSSHP experience. While the party officially starts at 7:00 pm., you can enter the park as early as 4:00 pm. with your party ticket. Arriving ahead of time gives you a head start to enjoy attractions and fully immerse yourself in the Halloween ambiance before the party. Plus, it’s the ideal moment to capture some fantastic costume photos – but I’ll tell you more about that later.
Keep in mind that the lines to enter the park can be quite lengthy, so I would strongly suggest trying to arrive by 3:30 pm. at the latest if you want to be among the first wave of guests. On top of that, we noticed that guests arriving via bus or boat tend to have shorter wait times than those arriving by Monorail. In fact, after initially taking the Monorail, we opted for the bus on our second visit and found it to be considerably faster. If you’re not staying at a Disney Resort, you might want to consider being dropped off at the Contemporary Resort and walking from there, as it’s usually quicker than taking the Monorail from the Transportation and Ticket Center.
EXTRA TIP
If you have a regular park ticket and reservation on the day of your MNSSHP, you’re allowed to enter directly skipping the lines entirely. You must have a valid party ticket in order to collect your wirstband so you can stay later than 6 pm. Don’t worry about the bracelet because you can also get it once you’re inside the park at one of the Wristband Distribution spots with no issues. This also applies to guests who are already spending the day at Magic Kingdom. Wristband Distribution begins at 4:00 pm. at the following spots:
–Fantasy Faire gift shop near Mickey’s Philharmagic in Fantasyland
-Across from Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor in Tomorrowland
–Tortuga Tavern in Adventureland
By arriving early and utilizing these insights, you’ll be well on your way to a spellbinding evening at Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party.
2. WEAR A COSTUME

As you may already know, Disney doesn’t allow guests over the age of 14 to wear costumes at the parks. However, when it comes to Halloween, there’s a bewitching exception to this rule – in fact, Disney actually encourages guests of all ages to embrace the Halloween spirit by wearing costumes, provided they adhere to Disney’s guidelines. So, seize the opportunity to showcase your most fantastic costume at the party. Keep in mind the importance of comfort, especially in Florida’s warm weather, and ensure that your costume doesn’t obstruct your view or mobility during the party. Speaking of weather, Florida’s can be notoriously unpredictable, so make sure to check your weather app and come prepared for rain, just in case Tía Pepa decides to join in on the fun. Packing ponchos or umbrellas ensures you’ll stay comfortable, come rain or shine.

EXTRA TIP
It’s crucial to keep in mind that even if your costume complies with Disney’s guidelines, there may still be situations where you’ll be required to remove certain parts for safety reasons when boarding some rides. Tron, for example, has strict regulations that prohibit hats, wigs, horns, capes, tails, or any fabric that could potentially swing from your costume, regardless of how securely it’s attached, glued, or fastened. During our visit, we had to remove most elements from our Jafar robe, as well as Maleficent’s dress, and horns to meet these safety requirements. Good thing the ride has free lockers inside. We also saw an entire Na’vi family being turned away because they didn’t have alternative clothing options to comply with these ride-specific rules.
3. BE READY TO TRICK-OR-TREAT
Halloween is in full bloom at the parks with Oogie Boogie Bash at Disneyland, Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party at Walt Disney World, and the season almost starting at Disneyland Paris. While you’ll receive a complimentary (but small) trick-or-treat bag upon entry, I recommend you bring your own if you want to Trick-or-Treat properly. There are around 15 trails you can visit to get some candy, and having extra storage ensures you can collect more treats throughout the night. I recommend visiting trails more towards the end of the party for lower crowds and extra sweets.
Trick-or-treating is one of the most delightful experiences at MNSSHP, and Disney is very generous with its candy. At every trail, Cast Members hand out a spoonful of sugar, but if you are in a sugar rush, don’t hesitate to ask for more treats. Thanks to the event’s sponsorship by Mars, your candy haul can include a variety of sweets such as M&Ms, Snickers, MilkyWays, Twix, Skittles, Starbursts, and many more.
For those with allergies, worry not! Disney has designated allergy-friendly spots and if you speak to a Cast Member, you can get a special treat bag. These bags allow you to collect special tokens along the trail, which can be redeemed at either the Liberty Square Ticket Office or the Chamber of Commerce. The allergy-friendly options are equally delicious and include treats such as Coco Loco Chewy Bars, Gummy Bears, Werther’s Original Sugar-Free candies, Fruit Snacks, Dark Chocolate Sunflower Butter Cups, and Ricemilk Chocolate Bars. So, whether you’re seeking traditional favorites or allergy-conscious treats, MNSSHP ensures that everyone can delight in the sweetness of Halloween.

Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party features wonderful exclusive entertainment that you simply can’t miss, including the spooky “Boo-to-You” Parade and the enchanting “Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular” show. To ensure you have a hauntingly good time, plan your evening around these three main unique experiences:
–Mickey’s Boo-to-You Parade starts in Frontierland and ends at the front of the park. My favorite viewing spot is right in front of The Country Bear Jamboree. After a quick candy stop, I secured a front-row seat easily. The parade takes place twice, at 9:15 pm. and 11:15 pm., with the latter usually being less crowded. Just before the parade starts, you can catch a glimpse of the Headless Horseman and Max.

–Disney’s Not-So-Spooky Spectacular fireworks show over Cinderella Castle is by far one of the most amazing firework shows I’ve ever seen and, without a doubt, the highlight of the night. They are displayed once per night, at 10:15 pm., replacing the regular nightly fireworks. The beauty of this show is that you can enjoy it from any point along Main Street, so there’s no need to camp out for a spot. That is unless you really want to see the absolutely spooktacular Jack Skellington puppet, in which case you should find a spot up front about 20-30 min before.
–Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular at Cinderella Castle stage is, without a doubt, the best Disney Halloween show and the perfect way to end your night. I recommend catching the last show to extend your party time. In September, the showtimes are 8:35 pm, 10:45 pm, and 12 am. In October, you can catch it at 7:40 pm, 8:35 pm, 10:45 pm, and 12 am.
OTHER ENTERTAINMENT
–Cadaver Dans Barbershop Quartet from the Frontierland balcony by Country Bear Jamboree:
7 p.m., 7:45 p.m., 8:30 p.m., 9:45 p.m., and 10:30 p.m.
–Max Goof’s Powerline “Stand Out” Pop-Up Party all around Magic Kingdom, including inside Cosmic Rays and on the Adventureland stage: Intermittently throughout the night
–Rusty Cutlass the Spirited pirate band at Adventureland:
Intermittently between 7:15 -11:50 p.m
–Disney Junior Jam Dance Party at Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Café: 7 p.m. – midnight
–Zom-Beatz Bash at Rockettower Plaza Stage in Tomorrowland: 7 p.m. – midnight
5. CHARACTER MEET AND GREETS

One of the most enchanting aspects of Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is the opportunity to meet rare characters like Jack and Sally, or beloved favorites wearing special Halloween costumes like Elvis Stitch and Winnie the Pooh and friends.
Some characters begin their meet-and-greets before the official party kicks off, which can be an amazing time-saving treat. Jack and Sally, for instance, open their meet-and-greet as early as 4:30 pm. To maximize your party time, be sure to join the line right after your 4:00 pm. entry. You can then proceed to meet characters like the Seven Dwarfs, who start greeting guests at 6:15 pm., or the sweet or Pooh & Friends that start meeting at around 6:30 pm. just like Elvis Stitch. Additionally, you can use this extra time to enjoy regular park meets with characters such as mermaid Ariel (in her human form, alongside Eric once the party starts) or the enchanting Princesses at the Fairytale Hall.
To make the most of this character-filled night, check the event map for locations and times. Prioritizing your character meets is key since it may be difficult to fit them all in. However, with careful planning, you can enjoy all the dazzling shows, encounter 2-3 rare characters, and squeeze in some regular meets as well.

EXTRA TIP
Keep an eye on character wait times. We’ve found that lines tend to be shorter during and after the fireworks, for instance, during the fireworks, Jack and Sally’s wait time was just 20 minutes while Mickey’s line was a walk-in. The Seven Dwarfs’ meet was under 30 minutes long at 11:00 PM, similar to Pooh & Friends, and Stitch had a manageable 20-minute wait during the first parade. Remember that wait times can fluctuate based on the party’s crowd level, so plan accordingly for the most enchanted evening possible.

A handful of these attractions receive thrilling Halloween overlays, to make your experience even spookier. Hop into pitch-black darkness aboard Space Mountain, celebrate your unbirthday with special lighting at the Mad Tea Party, and roar with the Halloween twist over at Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor.
EXTRA TIP

With all the bewitching party exclusive Magic Shots, photo opportunities and & Step In Photo Frames (also called 3D Photos) you should consider getting a Memory Maker. This will ensure you have wickedly wonderful and well lit pictures from all the meet and greets and thrilling rides you go on. Since there are a bunch of Disney photographers stationed throughout the park to help you document the magic you will have the most amazing memories.
Some of our best pictures were taken by photopass photographers at the end of the night. We stayed late to watch the last villain filled Hocus Pocus show so we waited a few minutes until the crowds had dispersed and immortalized the most enchanting castle pictures. We also took advantage of the photopass and got our pictures taken during the fireworks on the second night we attended since we watched them from the beginning of Main Street.
EXTRA TIP
One of my favorite advantages of having the Memory Maker is the exclusive access it grants you to the enchanting Photopass Studio, located at Sir Mickey’s. Here, the talented Photopass photographers work their magic, making you feel like true royalty while capturing epic portraits, and to add an extra touch of wonder, they provide many charming props. This studio is the perfect setting for capturing the essence of your Halloween costume in all its glory. And don’t forget to ask a fairy godmother for a sprinkle of pixie dust while you’re there – it’s the ultimate finishing touch to your magical photoshoot!
